Learning Outcomes
Students who graduate with a B.S.N. in Nursing should be able to …
- demonstrate knowledge of providing a safe, effective care environment for clients.
- exhibit knowledge of the ethics of research, the rights of the researcher and the subjects, and the responsibilities of nurses in protecting patients’ rights.
- formulate a nursing plan of care for all patients encountered and successfully evaluate the plan of care.
- generate clinical questions and apply evidence based nursing principles to answer clinical questions.
- incorporate evidence-based practice in the community.
- evaluate an evidence-based practice change within a defined area of health care.
- identify cultural patterns which influence health care beliefs, practices, and behaviors.
- incorporate culturally sensitive nursing in the plan of care.
- acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to perform clinical reasoning and to make clinical judgments.
- incorporate clinical reasoning in nursing interventions and plans of care.
- implement the nursing process in the clinical experience.

General education course selections must meet University general education requirements.

To be satisfied in one of the following ways: Foreign Language:
Students must demonstrate ability in a foreign language equivalent to that obtained by two years of high-school study of one language. This ability may be demonstrated by placing at level two or higher on the Foreign Language Placement Exam for the language studied in high school. Those failing to do so must satisfactorily complete equivalent study of a foreign language at USC. These students must pass 109 and 110 in French, German, Latin, or Spanish or 121 and 122 in any of the other languages. |
